Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
