Catherine's Yearly Festive Carol Concert Honours Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her annual festive musical service at the historic Abbey, with a congregation comprising members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have supported their local areas.

The 1,600 guests will hear a mix of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from stars like Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Focusing on Love and Generosity

The central message of the event, held in the candle-lit Abbey on Friday afternoon, is compassion and demonstrating care for others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose child passed away from a tumour, and who founded an organisation, a support fund, to aid parents with a terminally ill child.

"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an profound impact to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a message before the festive gathering.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own measured re-emergence to official duties subsequent to her illness and medical care, last month delivering her initial major address in two years, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Performance and Potential

Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by talented youth performers backed by the charitable trust Future Talent, co-founded by the former royal to widen access to music lessons.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who performs on the trumpet and is from Pembrokeshire, has been assisted by the trust, with grants helping towards musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "amazing" to be performing at the evening's event.

"Music can be very expensive," Carys said. She is now enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to develop their musical skills.

A Sisterly Duo

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will be present at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many important people," she said.

Attending the service will be representatives of different generations.

That will feature Saphia Turner, aged nine, honouree of a young hero award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to collect donations for community pantries.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett helping to make them.

Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a nautical singing ensemble, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the icing on the cake for us."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be broadcast on a major network on Christmas Eve.
