The January transfer market is always a period of intense speculation and potential big-money transfers. Several notable stars are being connected to moves away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the top figures that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

M. Guéhi

The English defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. With his contract due to expire in the summer, January is the London club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, such as City and multiple European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Welsh forward has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Although being the club's top scorer last season, he has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London club is open to a sale for the right price, believed to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker could be poised for a return to the English top flight following a period in Saudi Arabia. Still just 28, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player. Additionally, there are rumours from Spain that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona under the coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter departure looks highly probable. Aston Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

The Turin club are eager to tie down the youngster to a new long-term contract but are in a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is heavily tipped to complete a major move this month. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but could face strong competition from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
