From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
